Abrimos la sesión de esta semana desde el sello Rossbin, con el nuevo trabajo del compositor norteamericano Alvin Curran, que recientemente publicaba un disco de música electrónica dividido en cuatro cortes, en su mayoría creados en colaboración con el programador siciliano Domenico Sciajno, con el que ya había colaborado en múltiples ocasiones para diferentes campos como la radio, instalaciones y performances... aunque, para empezar la sesión de esta semana, hemos elegido el corte que abre el álbum, compuesto por Curran

Mezcla especial de las piezas que conforman Brackwater, el nuevo trabajo improvisado en el sello suizo For4Ears de un cuarteto formado por el joven guitarrista y músico electrónico Tomas Korber junto a tres grandes nombres de la escena: el francés Erik M procesando sonidos en tiempo real y los japoneses Otomo Yoshihide y Toshimaru Nakamura, el primero a los platos actuando como un instrumento más y el segundo lanzando crujidos de estática desde su cuadro de mezclas, aunque no participa en el segundo de los cortes

Colaboración de la mano de tres músicos alemanes: el clarinetista Kai Fagaschinski y el trompetista Axel Dörner buscando que sus instrumentos suenen electrónicos junto a Boris Baltschun en el sampler. A pesar de que se concibió en el entorno de Berlin, este disco se publica en el sello portugués Creative Sources

Nueva publicación del explorador del sonido en general y del medio radiofónico en particular John Duncan a través de su sello Allquestions, en este caso junto a Elliott Sharp, un trabajo titulado Tongue que utiliza como fuente la voz humana, la de los propios autores, tratada y procesada junto a señales de onda corta, campo en el que John Duncan es uno de los más importantes investigadores

Dedicaremos la parte final de la sesión de esta semana en Onda Sonora a escuchar las últimas novedades provenientes del sello nor-irlandés Fällt, con una nueva serie de lanzamientos “quemados a la carta”. En primer lugar, suena Ceremonial, el último disco de un artista multidisciplinar australiano que comenzó a trabajar a principios de los 80 en Sidney, Ian Andrews, con un corte que evoluciona lentamente hacia texturas a cada momento más complicadas y repletas de detalles

Otra novedad desde el sello Fällt para sus Ferric series. Se trata de una pareja de italianos, Rossano Polidoro y Emiliano Romanelli, que han elegido como nombre artístico conjunto el de la última pintura de Marcel Duchamp, Tu’m. Además de músicos, trabajan también al frente del net label Tu M’p3 y su correspondiente en formato cd Mr Mutt Records

La tercera y última de las sorpresas que nos reserva el sello nor-irlandés Fällt para esta semana es el nuevo álbum de Douglas Benford, que no sólo incluye el audio inserto en el cd sino que se complementa con componentes sólo accesibles via internet. Offices at Night es el título conjunto que reciben los cortes originales que incluye este primer volumen de una serie que incluirá versiones de estos cortes a cargo de artistas como Mitchell Akiyama, Stephan Mathieu o Sogar, y también del propio Si-cut.db. Todo este material posterior se publicará gratuitamente en formato mp3 a través de la web del propio sello Fällt

Abrimos la sesión de esta semana desde el Institut for Transakustiche Forschung, instituto de investigaciones electroacústicas de Viena, fundado en 1998 con la intención de reinterpretar la forma convencional de escuchar el sonido y ampliar los límites de la percepción auditiva a niveles más allá de los que estamos acostumbrados. Diferentes artistas exploran en este contexto los conceptos de micro y macro sonido, como un cuarteto llamado Outpost, cuyos Time Based Landscapes, paisajes basados en el tiempo, sirven de presentación internacional de las actividades del instituto

La primera de las novedades del sello alemán de improvisación GroB esta semana es el encuentro entre un investigador de las posibilidades de la percusión mediante la electrónica, Günter Müller, y Norbert Moslang, mitad del actualmente difunto proyecto de improvisación y manipulación sonora hasta el extremo Voice Crack, una reunión que tuvo lugar hace ya tres años en Colonia

Nuevo trabajo de Alessandro Bosetti, en este caso junto a Ronny Trocker, al saxo soprano, reivindicando un instrumento habitualmente denostado por el jazz y la música improvisada. Todas las piezas fueron grabadas en tiempo real con 6 micrófonos colocados en diferentes posiciones, con los que Bosetti reinterpreta las improvisaciones en la fase de mezcla

La última de las novedades del sello alemán GroB que te presentamos esta semana es otro disco de improvisación en esta ocasión entre cuatro artistas con muy diferentes intereses: el programador musical vienés Klaus Filip, el investigador electrónico vasco Mattin, el guitarrista norteamericano Dean Roberts, conocido por sus grabaciones para Erstwhile, Mille Plateaux o Kranky, y el trombonista radical Radu Maltaffi, que inspiró de alguna forma este disco con su estética de la pausa

De GroB pasamos ahora a la compañía Asphodel, con base en San Francisco. Segundo álbum del noruego Alexander Rishaug, tras su debut de hace dos años en el también noruego sello Smalltown Supersound. Se titula Possible Landscape, pero lo interesante reside en el método de creación del disco, basado en grabaciones de instrumentos tocados por él mismo en combinación con grabaciones de campo procesadas, recreando texturas repletas de detalles

08. CHRISTIAN MARCLAY

También desde el sello Asphodel, este es el regreso de Christian Marclay cuatro años después de su colaboración con Otomo Yoshihide. Se trata de un compositor pionero en el uso de múltiples platos como base de sus actuaciones improvisadas como dj. A través de este disco presenta su proyecto DjTrio, fundado en 1996, en el que el dj se convierte en un instrumentista que trabaja en un contexto colectivo en lugar de limitarse a mezclar grabaciones. Para ello, Marclay se ha rodeado en los últimos 8 años de un amplio elenco de artistas a la vanguardia de los platos, como el propio Otomo Yoshihide, Tom Recchion y Peter Rehberg entre otros, aunque en este trabajo colaboran otros cuatro instrumentistas de los platos como Toshio Kajiwara, Erik M, DJ Olive y Marina Rosenfeld

Nuevo trabajo de los austríacos Radian, una formación vienesa cuyo éxito ha servido de trampolín a muchos otros artistas de la escena experimental de su ciudad y los ha llevado a una extensa gira que incluía una fecha en Madrid. Se trata de su tercer disco, finalizado en los estudios Soma de John McEnrire en Chicago, y titulado propiamente Juxtaposition debido al método compositivo utilizado por la banda, combinando el sonido de instrumentos reales con grabaciones de esos mismos instrumentos de forma poco usual, a través de parches electrónicos y técnicas micrófonicas alternativas

Dedicamos el programa de esta semana al completo a un proyecto promovido por el prestigioso artista sonoro de San francisco Kim Cascone a través de la página de Microsound, www.microsound.org. El proyecto surge como respuesta artística a los atentados del 11 de Marzo en Madrid, y en él participan hasta 25 artistas de la más variada procedencia. Entre ellos, el norteamericano de origen europeo Carl Kruger, que aporta este corte al proyecto Madrid: “silentcity”

Esta es la aportación del sueco Leif E. Boman, EarthArt, creador de la obra “Earthsimphony 1-186” que se presenta en Los Juegos Olímpicos de Atenas, donde el autor analiza a través de un espectroscopio trozos de tierra provenientes de todos los países del mundo para convertirlos después en frecuencias sonoras. Esta es su contribución al Proyecto, titulada con las coordenadas de latitud y longitud geográfica de Madrid, 40.25ºN y 3.41ºO. Además, escuchamos también la conversión en audio del campo electromagnético de la localización, junto a otros fenómenos de carácter más personal añadidos por el autor

Also from Asphodel, the return of Christian Marclay four years after his collaboration with Otomo Yoshihide. Marclay is a pioneer composer in the use of several turntables as a base for creating and performing. This cd presents his DjTrio project, operating since 1996, in which context the presence of the dj is re-interpreted as an instrumentist working for a collective. With this aim, Marclay has surrounded himself of a wide range of avantgarde artists of the turntable, such as Otomo Yoshihide, Tom Recchion and Peter Rehberg, though for this work he finds the collaboration of Toshio Kajiwara, Erik M, Dj Olive and Marina Rosenfeld
