Reciente colaboración entre el dúo dadaísta islandés Stillupsteypa y el compositor sueco BJ Nilsen, un disco aislacionista dedicado al alcohol y a la confusión derivada de sus efectos. Valga como prueba el título del álbum, "Vikinga Brennivin", que se refiere a un licor islandés destilado de la patata y similar a un veneno de alta graduación. La primera edición de este disco, de 300 copias, se agotó tan rápidamente que la compañía que lo edita, The Helen Scarsdale Agency, lo ha reeditado pocos meses después

Recent collaboration between the Icelandic dadaist duo Stillupsteypa and the Swedish composer BJ Nilsen, an isolationist work dedicated to alcohol and the confusion derived of its effects. As a proof, the album was entitled "Vikinga Brennivin" refering to an Icelandic liquor distilled from the potato and similar to a high-graduation poison. The first edition of this cd, of 300 copies, was sold out so quickly that the company releasing it, "The Helen Scarsdale Agency", has reissued it a few months later

Mr. Mutt label that has gathered an interesting roster of artists for a compilation of tracks claiming the decade of the 80s in the history of electronic music as the one that rediscovered melody through the use of certain formal solutions and specific compositional mechanisms. "The Forbidden 80s" includes among others this track by Sogar, Jürgen Heckel, a German electronic musician residing in Paris, who summarizes in his work acoustic techniques and computer processing

Segunda colaboración entre Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai, director del sello Raster-Noton y probablemente uno de los artistas más influyentes de los últimos años en lo que se refiere a música electrónica) y Riuychi Sakamoto (maestro japonés del piano), una colaboración que se inició en 2003 con "Vrioon", un disco aplaudido a partes iguales por crítica y público en el que los típicos sonidos sinusoidales de Noto se contraponían a los acordes de piano de Sakamoto. En su retorno juntos, titulado "Insen", el alemán trabaja directamente sobre los sonidos de piano del japonés en lo que parece una experiencia bastante más compleja que su predecesora

Second collaboration between Alva Noto (Carsten Nicolai, Raster-Noton founder, and probably one of the most influential artists in the last years in electronic music) and Riuychi Sakamoto (Japanese piano master), a collaboration that began in 2003 with "Vrioon", a record acclaimed by both critic and public in which the typical sinusoidal sounds of Noto were set off the piano chords of Sakamoto. Este nuevo trabajo parte donde acababa el anterior, aunque en general está mucho más basado en ritmos que su predecesor, si bien son los propios platos giradiscos los que toman el mando instrumental en esta ocasión bajo la batuta en la dirección de sus dos autores. Esta serie colaborativa se cerrará dentro de unos meses con la publicación de "Ahhh", tercer volumen de la trilogía

Recent collaboration between Otomo Yoshihide and Martín Tétreault published by Ambiances Magnétiques with the concise title of "Tok". Another onomatopoeia, after last year's "Grrr". This new work departs where the previous one finished, in general much more rhythm-based than its predecessor, although they are turntables themselves who take the instrumental control in this occasion under the instrumental control of their two authors. Todavía en Canadá, escuchamos la faceta más experimental de Rouge Ciel, una joven banda entre la composición formal y la improvisación formada por Guido Del Fabbro, Simon Lapointe, Antonin Provost y Némo Venba. Se trata de su segundo trabajo, una mezcla de música introspectiva, cerebral y espontánea que bebe tanto del jazz como de la tradición folklórica de la Europa del Este y del rock más sucio, añadiendo unas pinceladas de música electrónica a unas piezas de origen acústico como las cuatro que escucharemos mezcladas, todas procedentes de este álbum, "Veuillez Procéder"

Still in Canada, we listen to Rouge Ciel's more experimental facet, a young band between formal composition and improvisation, formed by Guido Del Fabbro, Simon Lapointe, Antonin Provost and Némo Venba. This is their second work, a blend of introspective, cerebral and spontaneous music inspired so much in jazz as in Eastern Europe folk tradition and in the dirtiest rock, adding some strokes of electronics to these originally acoustic pieces

Nos quedamos en el interesante sello canadiense Ambiances Magnetiques, que nos propone en esta ocasión escuchar las "Oralizations" de Paul Dutton, una obra divertida y muy curiosa construída al completo mediante improvisaciones vocales que investigan en los extremos de la voz y el verbo, y que difuminan los límites entre lenguage y poesía. Paul Dutton es un artista sonoro vocal que lleva trabajando con su cuerpo cerca de 30 años, tanto en solitario como en colaboración de otros artistas, en especial el grupo Five Men Singing junto a Jaap Blonk, Koichi Makigami, Phil Minton y David Moss

Ambiances Magnetiques proposes us this time listening to Paul Dutton's "Oralizations", a very curious work built completely from vocal improvisations that investigate in the edge of voice and verb, which blur the limits between poetry and language. Paul Dutton is a vocal sound artist that has been nearly 30 years working with his body, so much in solitary as in collaboration with other artists, especially the Five Men Singing group, together with Jaap Blonk, Koichi Makigami, Phil Minton and David Moss

Still in Montreal's label Ambiances Magnétiques, we say goodbye with the Normand Guibeault Ensemble, a jazz formation that was born under the influence of the great Charles Mingus, and that has found its own way, creative and personal, of covering the jazz classic. Thomas Dimuzio reside desde hace unos años en la bahía de San Francisco, dedicándose a producir librerías de sonidos, trabajando con artistas como Negativland, Wobbly, Matmos o Fred Frith, entre muchos otros y creando piezas que han ido apareciendo en diferentes discos y compilaciones. "Slew", su lanzamiento más reciente a través del sello ReR, recoge todo este material aparecido anteriormente en ediciones de RRRecords, Tzadik o Alku, entre otros sellos

Composer, multi-instrumentist and electronic sound designer working from the last 80s with drones. Allí se reunieron varias obras de compositores clásicos de órgano en el órgano principal de la catedral junto a las creaciones de varios artistas experimentales de la actualidad, como Philip Jeck, Fennesz o BJNilsen, artista sueco al que conocíamos por sus trabajos como Hazard y que hace poco publicaba, también en Touch, su último disco

Second reference in Touch's Spire series, dedicated to the organ, in this occasion documenting La Batie festival, which took place last year in the Swiss city of Geneva, in the environment of its Saint Pierre's Cathedral, a crucial point in the XVI century during the Protestant Reform. A collaboration, recently published in the Carpark label, between two electronic musicians coming from the North American Eastern coast, Greg Davis and Keith Fullerton Whitman. They both left for a year of combined tour around the world as they made a number of improvisation concerts with laptop, until 18 hours of audio finally summarized in 45 minutes, "Yearlong"
