New album by digital artist Mitchell Akiyama, the most ambitious in his career (though such adjective doesn't fit well in terms of experimental music) after 3 works published from his native Canada, his first reference for the exquisite Belgian label Sub Rosa. Basing the compositions on explorations with traditional instruments as guitar, piano, strings and some other, Akiyama alters, shatters and restructure them through his laptop always searching for an emotional approach to sound, departing from its different textures

Sub Rosa recently released as well “Aerial Volume 1” by Tod Dockstader, an artist working from the 60s in the edges of the concrete music, in the line of the main European figures of the gender (Pierre Schaeffer, Pierre Henry, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgar Varese), in his case from the United States. This is the first work in a series of three (still to present by the Belgian label), that uses radio as a proper instrument, introducing his recordings in the digital field for the first time

Follow-up for the investigations carried by NYC artists Taylor Deupree and Kenneth Kirschner, genericly entitled Post_Piano, which they are presenting this week in Madrid. Su 37ª referencia es una colección de piezas cortas grabadas en Japón en 1997 con un grupo que consta de guitarra, teclado y percusión. El artista japonés ha estado tan activo viajando y componiendo los últimos años que hasta ahora no le había llegado el momento a esta grabación, titulada en conjunto “Takoyakinun”

Koji Asano is a notable exponent of the “do it yourself” idea, recording, editing, designing and even releasing his own works, through his Solstice label. His 37th reference is a collection of short pieces recorded in Japan in 1997 in a band context, including guitar, keyboards and percussion. The Japanese artist has been so active traveling and composing during the last years that “Takoyakinun” had to wait until 2005 to see the light

Primera grabación del combo británico Coil tras la muerte de su miembro fundador Jhonn Balance, acaecida a finales de 2004 a causa de un accidente casero. Se trata de un disco cuya publicacion estaba ya planeada a traves de su propio sello Threshold House, propiamente titulado "And The Ambulance Died In His Arms" que incluye 5 cortes grabados durante la edición 2003 del festival All Tomorrow's Parties, en el sur de Inglaterra, con Balance y Peter "Sleazy" Christopherson, junto a Tightpaulsandra y Tom Edwards como colaboradores habituales. Escuchamos un corte nunca publicado anteriormente, "Snow Falls Into Military Temples" nunca había sido publicado anteriormente

First recording of the British outfit Coil after the death of its founder member Jhonn Balance, happened in the end of 2004 caused by an accident at home. Fresh from the Erstwhile label, directed from New Jersey for Jon Abbey, and dedicated from its creation in 1999 to release electroacoustic improvisative works of artists coming from several corners of the world. The Asphodel label presents from California a new work by Curtis Roads, a Californian composer pioneer in granular sound synthesis, the creation by electronic means of small particles that, quickly sequenced, form sound clouds that generate an illusion of continuity which varies in tone and texture in the measure that their density grows. Se trata de un proyecto que nació como salida a sus inquietudes en un formato de directo, no en vano este disco documenta su actuación en el Tonic neoyorkino, el club que dirige John Zorn, un CD que incluye 4 largas piezas con instrumentaciones en directo, grabaciones de campo, sutiles motivos electrónicos y sampleado en directo

Collaboration project between the two former founders of the label, Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp, their debut album together under the "Mountains" moniker. Aunque no en el corte anterior, el nuevo disco de HangedUp cuenta con la colaboración de Harris Newman en uno de los temas, colega de HangedUp en su anterior proyecto Sackville y también compositor en solitario como guitarrista acústico al estilo de John Fahey. En este caso, con su segundo trabajo en el sello Strange Attractors titulado "Accidents With Nature And Each Other", cuenta con la colaboración de varios miembros de la vibrante escena canadiense, como Sandro Perri (Polmo Polpo) y Bruce Cawdron (Godspeed You! Black Emperor)

Though not in this last track, the new HangedUp album sees the collaboration of Harris Newman in one of the tracks, as their partner in Sackville, and also a solo composer as an acoustic guitarrist with a kind of John fahey's approach. In this case, for his second work for the Strange Attractors label entitled "Accidents With Nature And Each Other", counts with the collaboration of several members of the vibrant Montreal scene, such as Sandro Perri (Polmo Polpo) and Bruce Cawdron (Godspeed You! Black Emperor)

Esta semana dedicamos nuestra sesión al completo a la referencia número 20 del sello portugués Cronica Electronica, que se celebra por todo lo alto con múltiples presentaciones en diferentes radios de todo el mundo, incluyendo la Radio Nacional de Portugal y la emisora independiente londinense Resonance FM, aparte de nuestro espacio en la Radio del Círculo de Bellas Artes y en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
Esta compilación, un DVD y CD Audio convenientemente titulado "Radio Cronica", contiene un total de 39 obras a cargo de otros tantos artistas, todas las piezas tienen una duración estándar de 120 segundos y están dedicadas al medio radiofónico. Por problemas de tiempo, no podremos escuchar a todos los protagonistas del disco, aunque hemos hecho lo posible por incluir una amplia muestra del material editado por Cronica en esta interesantísima referencia. We devote this week's whole session to the number 020 reference of the Portuguese label Cronica Electronica, which is being loudly celebrated with multiple appearances and presentations in different stations from all over the world, including the National Radio of Portugal, Kunst Radio in Austria and the London independent radio station Resonance FM, apart from our spaces in Madrid's Radio Circulo de Bellas Artes and the universitary Radio Autonoma.
This compilation, a DVD and Audio CD conveniently entitled "Radio Crónica", contains a total of 39 works by so many artists, all the pieces have a standard lenght of 120 seconds and they are dedicated to the radiophonic media. Due to time questions, it is not possible for us to play all the protagonists of the album, though we have made our best to include a wide sample of the material released by Cronica in this more than interesting reference.
